Effective November 8, 2026. This policy describes the Sidequest private pilot for iPhone and iPad.

What Sidequest handles

• Content you choose to share: display name, messages, Fam membership, shared pins, optional profile photo, reports, and invitations.
• Location and device status: precise location, timestamp, accuracy, battery level, and charging state when you enable Fam location sharing.
• Connectivity data: short-lived installation sessions, rotating opaque routing and presence tokens, app/device compatibility information, delivery acknowledgments, and limited operational diagnostics.

How it is protected

Message, location, battery, profile, and Fam payloads are encrypted on-device before they use an internet relay or an unrelated nearby carrier. The relay is designed to store opaque envelopes and cannot read their content. Nearby carrier devices may forward encrypted packets without becoming contacts or Fam members.

Internet relay

The development relay stores encrypted envelopes for at most 24 hours and removes expired records during normal service operation. Presence leases expire within two minutes and use rotating opaque tokens. The relay does not intentionally log request IP addresses, message contents, precise locations, mailbox tags, or Fam membership graphs. Cloudflare provides TLS and edge delivery and may process standard network metadata under its own policies.

Your controls

• Turn location sharing off or pause it in the app.
• Disable outgoing read receipts globally.
• Block a connection or block another member’s presentation within a Fam.
• Delete or replace your own pins and optional profile photo.
• Remove the app to delete device-local Sidequest data and device-only keys. Relay data expires automatically.

Sharing and sale

We do not sell personal data or use it for third-party advertising. Content is shared only with the contacts or Fams you select, or with service providers needed to operate encrypted delivery.

Retention

Conversation history, trusted connections, location cache, and preferences remain on your device until you remove them or delete the app. Encrypted relay envelopes expire within 24 hours. Short-lived presence records expire within two minutes. Abuse reports may be retained as needed to investigate and prevent misuse.

Children

Sidequest is not directed to children under 13 and is not offered in Apple’s Kids Category.
